General[]

The Energy, Explosive, Kinetic, Alien and Plasma Pierce Resistors protect your ships from Piercing effects in addition to the corresponding damage types. It is restricted to Altairian Hulls.

Strategy and Setup[]

Advantages[]

Pierce Resistors are a direct counter to the Sai Missile and its variants, as well as other Piercing weapons such as the Bayonet Missile and Void NET Burst Torpedo. By reducing the maximum number of targets that can be hit, the potential damage output of these weapons is reduced considerably. For weapons that also have AoE, this has the additional effect of preventing the "double-hit" that occurs with the initial pierce and the explosion upon reaching maximum range.

The Alien and Plasma variants enable your ships to unprecedentedly achieve greater resistance against Alien and Plasma damage types.

Disadvantages[]

Taking only damage resistance into consideration, the mass efficiency of Pierce Resistors is actually worse than that of Basic Ship Resistors. Thus, it is ill-advised to equip this resistor if your ships are not expected to fight enemies with the Piercing ability.

The Piercing effect is actually very easy to avoid: all you have to do is not line up your ships. As a result, skilled players rarely have to make use of this resistor.

The Plasma variant is specifically geared towards PvE because players cannot obtain Plasma weapons. Do not use this in a PvP build.
