|“||Marauder converted Altairian designs, retains the Catalyst Overdrive and adds new tech, Resurgence, which restores a portion of damage taken upon victory in Fleet PvP combat.||”|
|— In-Game Description|
The Assassin Cutter is the result of Marauder Technology being applied to the Cavalier Cutter. It retains its Catalyst Overdrive, as well as stasis resistance.
Strategy and Setup
Like its Altairian Counterpart, the Assassin Cutter's Catalyst Overdrive causes its speed to increase when affected by stasis weapons, resulting in the cutter traveling even faster when hit by stasis weaponry. This makes it brutally effective especially against Kingpin Battleships, due to their cutter damage modifier, or in fact, any ship armed with the Void NET Burst Torpedo, as the Void NET Burst Torpedo's large Splash Radius will grant the cutter plenty of opportunities to activate its overdrive, increasing its shield recharge rate by massive amounts and allowing it to travel at extremely fast speeds.
Just like the Cavalier, the Catalyst Overdrive only activates when the Assassin Cutter is affected by Stasis. This makes it ineffective if the opponent chooses not to bring stasis weapons into the battle, causing the cutter to lose its supposed advantage in battle against kiting fleets. Cruisers also gains a DPS boost against Cutters, and is thus able to more easily bulldoze through a fleet of Assassins.
Furthermore, like all Cutters, The Assassin is usually always placed in a situation where it will take lots of damage, thus causing it to usually have high repair times after each battle.
